Subramanyam Manny Ayyar, M.D.

Dr. Ayyar obtained a bachelors of science in biology from Baylor University. He received his M.D. from The University of Texas Medical School, Houston, Texas. With his devoted wife at his side, Dr. Ayyar completed a five-year residency curriculum in surgery at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston, Texas, in 1999 with an emphasis in minimally invasive surgery.

Beyond the basic laparoscopic gallbladder and appendix removal, or anti-reflux operation Dr. Ayyar also performs laparoscopic colon or rectal resections for infections and tumors, laparoscopic splenectomy, adrenal and renal (kidney) resections. He has performed many laparoscopic hernia operations as well.

While enjoying all aspects of general surgery he has pioneered minimally invasive surgical procedures in the suburbs of West and Northwest Houston. This form of surgery has evolved in the last decade and is advantageous for the patient, leaving smaller scars, less postoperative pain, fewer wound infections affording individuals a rapid recovery.

Dr. Ayyar and his partners have been successful in completing delicate operations endoscopically. Another field of his expertise is in the subspecialty of endocrine surgeries (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreas). Dr. Ayyar combines his passion for minimally invasive surgery and endocrine surgery by performing thyroid and parathyroid operations thru approximately an inch size incision.

With the support of his three children, family and friends, Dr. Ayyar’ dedication and compassion is experienced by his patient population and the community.
