Ziad Amr, M.D.

Dr. Ziad Amr went to the University Of Jordan Medical School, and graduated in the top 10% of his class. He completed his general surgery residency training from 2002-2007 at The Methodist Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. While in training, Dr. Amr gained extensive experience in general surgery procedures. He was awarded intern of the year in 2002 and resident of the year in 2005 by his colleagues in residency. He was the administrative chief resident in 2007. Dr. Amr is certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Society of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

After his residency, he completed a one year fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. During his fellowship, Dr. Amr trained with local and national leaders in bariatric surgery and gained wide experience in multidisciplinary surgical approach for bariatric patients that required laparoscopic gastric bypass, Lap Band, and laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery.

Dr. Amr is trained in laparoscopic foregut surgery and bariatric (weight loss) surgery. His interests include laparoscopic surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, treatment of inguinal and incisional hernias, and gallbladder disease.

Dr. Amr is joining NHSA, an energetic young group of surgeons, and will be providing the community his surgical services. During his spare time he enjoys running, traveling and learning about different cultures.
